Professional Biography
Vas Ferris is the founder, producer and creative director of Vascend Music, the independent music and audio division of Australian multi-brand business Vascend.
He leads the division's creative and commercial development, overseeing original music projects from initial concept and songwriting through production, artist identity, visual direction, distribution, release strategy and ongoing catalogue management.
Working across contemporary pop, country, alternative rock, R&B and ambient music, Vas develops artists with distinct musical identities, vocal characteristics and creative direction. The Vascend Music roster includes Vi Ferris, VASFE, Fay Marlow, DRALKEN, NELAYA, Sophie Pellis and PACATUS, each developed with an individual artistic approach rather than a standardised production formula.
His involvement extends throughout the creative process, including songwriting development, composition and arrangement refinement, vocal performance selection, production direction, visual storytelling and release planning. He combines these creative responsibilities with centralised label management, commercial strategy and the long-term development of individual artists and their catalogues.
Vascend Music embraces contemporary digital production methods, including generative artificial intelligence, virtual artist development and AI-generated vocal performances. These technologies are integrated into a creatively directed production process in which Vas establishes artistic concepts, develops material, evaluates production outcomes and determines the final creative direction of each project. The division's approach combines technological innovation with deliberate artistic development, transparency and responsible commercial management.
Before founding Vascend, Vas spent more than two decades in investigative, operational and leadership roles with the NSW Police Force. His professional experience in intelligence analysis, risk assessment and regulatory processes informs his approach to creative project management, business operations and the commercial development of Vascend Music.
As an Associate Member of Screen Producers Australia (SPA), he also maintains a professional connection with Australia's screen production industry, complementing Vascend Music's interests in audiovisual production, original content and potential cross-industry collaborations.
